What is Ribble Board Game Convention?
Ribble Board Game Convention is fun filled four days all about board games. Ribble Board Game Convention takes place in Woodland Suite at Ribby Hall. Our aim is to play board games and have all the fun doing it!
What is a superfan ticket?
A superfan ticket is essentially an early bird and available to anyone to purchase from until 30th May(and during relevant promotions), a super fan 4 day ticket grants access to the convention from 9am on the Thursday and offers a discount too.
What kind of games are played at the con?
At Ribble Board Game Convention, we play all kinds of board, card and tabletop games! From the classics like monopoly to complex strategy games like On Mars or Nucleum, there's something for everyone! We've space for wargames and RPGs too!
Can I bring along my own games?
Yes of course! Please be mindful of where you are leaving your bags/crates/suitcases/trolleys of games to not block entrances, tables or fire exits
What is expected of me as an attendee at Ribble Board Game Convention?
At Ribble Board Game Convention, we're all about playing board games and having fun. We ask that you're kind, considerate to all others attendees to make Ribble Board Game Convention feel friendly and welcoming.
We like to think Bill and Ted's law "Be excellent to each other" covers all basis of what is expected as an attendee.
What are the opening times?
Ribble Board Game Convention is open from 9am on Thursday 7th January 2027 until 11:30pm and then 8am Friday (8th), Saturday (9th), Sunday (10th) until 11:30pm. The gaming rooms will be locked overnight.
Can I purchase tickets on the door?
There may be a limited number of tickets available, however, once all tickets have sold out there will be no more available. We highly recommend purchasing your tickets in advance.
How do I join a game or find other players?
You can use either the find a game system which will launch in November. Or you can use one of the 'players wanted' signs, or look out for a players wanted sign in the open gaming areas. Or you can use the Facebook group.
Its important to remember that every game won't be for everyone, and your favourite game may not be for everyone. Ribble Board Game Convention does not guarantee everyone who brings games to the convention will get them played, or that your favourite ever game will be played.
Can Children attend Ribble Board Game Convention?
Everyone is welcome at Ribble Board Game Convention. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times and each attendee must have their own ticket. Half price tickets are available for children between the ages of 6 to 15.
Can I keep my lanyard?
Yes of course! We won't ask that you return your Lanyard. A Lanyard + ID Holder+ ticket do cost Ribble Board Game Convention approximately £1.45 each (which is factored into ticket prices), but we think its something you might like to keep or collect.
Will there be vendors/traders?
The primary focus of Ribble Board Game Convention is playing board games. Ludus Vulpes will be in attendance showing games such as Overgrowth, Forest Folk, Disappearing Act, Pete's Plaice, Ducks in a row and more! Mindclash games will also be in attendance with a number of their games.
Can I purchase a day ticket?
Yes
Are tickets transferrable or refundable?
Tickets are transferrable but non-refundable
Where is Ribble Board Game Convention?
Ribble Board Game Convention takes place at Ribby Hall, we'll be in the Woodland Suite.
How do I book accomodation?
You can book accommodation via the extra's tab, you'll be sent a payment link with booking terms and conditions after 30th September from Ribby Hall to make payment. Please note if you request accomodation and do not then make payment, the event is then responsible for payment, you will be banned from future Ribble Board game conventions in the event of non-payment.
What food and drink is available?
The venue will be providing a range of hot drinks, soft drinks and a fully stocked bar filled with alcohol. All accomodation is self catered.
Can I bring my own food and drink?
Yes! All accomodation is self catered.
And we have listed all other nearby places you can purchase food and drink under "restaurants".
You are prohibited from bringing your own alcohol, this must be purchased from the bar, and anyone bringing their own alcohol will be asked to leave the venue
Where is the nearest car park and is it free?
There is plenty of car parking outside your accomodation or closer to the venue (all within a couple of minutes walk of each other) Car Parking is free for all attendees.
Is there fridge or microwave?
All cottages come with a kitchen which include fridge/freezer, microwave, the convention spaces do not have fridges or microwaves available.
Where is the nearest bus stop?
The nearest bus stop is Ribby Hall Entrance, from Kirkham and Wesham station you'll want to catch the number 61 bus.
How does the bring and buy work?
For each game you would like to sell in the bring and buy, you'll need to purchase a sticker (available under extras at £1 each). At the convention, you'll recieve stickers to place on your games, with a space for a price, Game name and your contact details. All games are left at owners risk and Ribble Board Game Convention accepts no responsiblity for games in the bring and buy.
Is there a limit to how many games I can sell in the bring and buy?
No - however, if anyone is seen to be listing an excessive number we will implement a cap per person. Games that are from a shop or business are prohibited for sale in the bring and buy
What time is the bring and buy open?
The bring and buy is open
Thursday 10am - Sunday 3pm
All games must be collected by 3:30pm on Sunday, any games left will be donated to the Charity Raffle - drawn at 4pm on Sunday.
What happens to games I don't collect from the bring and buy?
All games not collected from the bring and buy by 3:30pm on Sunday 10th January, will be added to the charity raffle (drawn at 4pm on Sunday 10th January).
Why is there a bring and buy charge
We believe that bring and buys should be made up of the stuff that actually might sell and be priced to sell, having a small discretionary charge covers the space and table hire, and hopefully encourages everyone to price their games to sell
